House for a Musican

Transformative two storey extension with internal reconfiguration, designed from conception by MOOi, with the musical clients in mind.

Instructed to help transform this central Cambridge, 1930’s property MOOi collaborated closely with the clients who were keen to explore options to modernise and personalise their existing space.  Beginning with a series of design proposals the final scheme includes a generous two storey extension accommodating a contemporary kitchen and dining area featuring exposed local, Cambridge light weathered brickwork and feature colour pop steel work.

The dedicated piano room at ground floor provides space for the client to enjoy their musical interests, a key focus of the project.  At first floor the newly extended bedroom and bathroom offer welcome additions to the developed space and transform the property’s rear elevation.

Also featured are heritage doors and zinc roofing, offering similarly sympathetic yet contemporary features to the property.

All works were completed in collaboration with local contractors and trades and the project was managed onsite by MOOi, working with Bob Black Construction Ltd.
