MOOi have recently obtained planning approval in the ‘Mill Road Conservation Area’ of Cambridge.
The alterations associated with this application involve the replacement of an existing single-storey side and rear extension to form a new rear kitchen, as well as other internal improvements and upgrades to the property.
The proposal seeks to rationalise and combine the current disjointed rear additions into a singular, modest, yet contemporary gesture, finished in dark blue render and inset timber cladding. The material approach helps to define the rear addition as a distinctive element and read as a clear addition against the existing historic property.
The existing UPVC/steel framed windows on the front and rear elevation, which are not an original feature of the property, are to be replaced with traditional timber sash windows to match existing adjacent neighbouring properties.
We look forward to further progressing this project through the detailed design stage and please keep an eye on our twitter feed @MOOiArchitects for updates and photos of our other projects that are currently on site.
